Captain "Peter" Robinson was one of the first to be selected to recruit the other members of Northumberland's Auxiliary Units. Major George McNicol picked him along with Lambert Carmichael to set up and run the Units.
He was initially the leader of the Swinhoe Patrol, then promoted to Leiutenant as Group Commanding Officer and ended up as Area Commanding Officer for Northumberland.
He was awarded the M.B.E in Dec 1944 for services to the Home Guard.
A plane skipped over the top of his house so low he was able to see the occupant it was Rudolph Hess on his way to Scotland.
