Northumberland Group 1

Information

Possibly the earliest of the Northumberland Auxiliary Units to be formed as Lieutenant Carmicheal was one of the first picked along with Captain Joseph "Peter" Robinson to select and create the Patrols early in 1941.

Lieutenant Carmicheal, in 1968, revealed he had a store of explosives in his home, above the room where his son was born in 1940. Throughout the war his wife didn't know of his activities; "It was better for her not to know of these things".
