Operational Base (OB)

The Patrol had two OBs. The first was a shelter built in Stone Pit Plantation to the north of Burton Agnes close to the main road.

This was replaced with a second "Elephant" type shelter built in the same area. The site was blown up. The only remains on the site was a piece of brick wall.

Patrol Targets

The Patrol would have targeted roads across the Yorkshire Wolds from the coast to the east along with the railway between Bridlington and Hull, and the probable landing grounds along Bridlington Bay and Burton Agnes Hall.

Military targets would have included RAF Lissett, RAF Driffield and RAF Cottam.

Training

The Patrol trained locally in the area at Rudston Parva Quarry and went to the Headquarters at Middleton on the Wolds. They also trained at Richmond and Castle Howard with the Green Howards (Castle Howard was a large Home Guard training centre).

Some of the Patrol went to Coleshill House for specialist courses.

Weapons and Equipment

Weapons issued to the Patrol included Tommy guns, later STEN Machine Guns, .9mm Revolvers, Fairburn Sykes Knives, knuckle dusters and .22 Sniper Rifle.

Other information

Burton Agnes Hall was home to Thomas Lamplugh Wickham, who's son Marcus Wickham Boynton was an Officer at Coleshill House with the Auxiliary Units H.Q. staff in Administration and was the 2nd Camp Commandant.
