Operational Base (OB)

North west of Loch Skiall and near to the Forss windmills, there is a low ridge within a small former quarry.

The OB was located within the base of the quarry. It has since been partially covered by debris from field ploughing. Very little remains of the OB but for some corrugated sheeting.

Patrol Targets

Possible targets include the unfinished airbase at Dounreay and coastal installations. Also supply routes as likely targets once occupation forces had settled in.

Local training and a 'round robin’ of training from Cameron Highlanders Scout Section stationed at Halkirk.

Other information

A local lad spied on the site and knew them as the "suicide squad".
