Lapel Badge - Stand Down

Pictures
Body

Produced around July 1944, all past and present Auxiliers were entitled to this small enamel lapel badge apart from those that were sacked or returned to the Home Guard as "useless". Group Commanders were to ensure only entitled men were supplied with one and they were not to be worn until the end of hostilities in Europe. Reports state they had to pay 6d for them, though in some places the cost may have been covered by the Intelligence Officer or Area or Group Commanders.

These are now rare and can command a fair price. Sadly there are an increasing amount of forgeries for sale. Please study the images carefully before purchasing or contact us for advice.

The design errors on the forgeries are often the size and finish and the rear has what looks like could have been a pin fixing rather than a butterfly clip. There are other design errors that we do not want to list as may encourage better forgeries !

Most forgeries we have seen have been sold through eBay or East Bristol Auctions both of whom have been made aware these are not original and so are not labelled as such in sales.
