He was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain on 30 Apr 1943
According to Angus Ogilvy of Marton Patrol, Captain Dixon lost some fingers in a training accident while with Auxiliary Units. The records of dusability record the accident occurring on 5 Mar 1944. A claim was first submitted 6 days later and he received a series of payments for loss of earnings.
