Gerald was retired Mercantile Marine. He served until Feb 1931 and is recorded as 6 foot 1 3/4 inches tall with hazel eyes, fair hair and a fair complexion.
He was known to be a crack shot and good with explosives. Though not recorded as such it is thought Gerald was invalided out of Auxiliary Units.
