Harry, Guy and John Sainsbury were brothers and all farmed land in the area. Both Guy and John were selected to play for their county at Hockey. Guy played cricket for Ross before the war, as well as his school old boys team and continued with his club after the war, eventually becoming Chairman of the club.
Guy Sainsbury was a Special Constable in the Police at the start of the war, a job he had to relinquish when joining the Patrol.
In early 1941 he married Keturah Denise Crocker.
On 9 May 1942, he was fined 20/- at Ross Police Court for two offences of failing to immobilise his car and having no lights.

Guy told his wife Denise that in the event of an invasion there were two people in Ross-on-Wye that the Patrol were going to eliminate.
His Defence Medal was claimed in the late 1990s by members of his family.
In Sep 2025, a group of items belonging to Guy relating to his Auxiliary Units service were sold through eBay, having recently been auctioned. The vendor has kindly given permission to reproduce photos of these on this site.
