Station description

The wireless set was hidden in a dugout in a clump of trees opposite what was the "Warming Pan" restaurant at Crossbush. Access was from the restaurant's cellar where a crawl tunnel ran under the road which is the main A27. Under a slate shelf a small section of the cellar wall was said to have been mounted on rails. When a nail was pushed into a certain crack it lifted a catch allowing the wall to move along the rails revealing a tunnel.

It is thought the wireless was moved into an underground tank after the tunnel started to collapse and cause subsidence of the road. A cable was said to have run from the dugout to an intercom in a nearby flint wall. It is rumored the local Vicar would have been an informant.

The tree used for an aerial can be seen on the opposite side of the road.
