Biography

He was described as a useful and prominent member of the Agricultural Executive Committee during the war.

He had a wife, three sons and two daughters. John was in the Seaforth Highlanders and served in Burma. Alexander, born 1926, another son, joined the Lighthouse service and was posted to several lights in turn in the Hebrides.

Career

He was one of the older members of Auxiliary Units, being 62 in 1940. The retirement age for the Home Guard was 65.
