In 1939 he is living at Peek Mill near to Filham and a near neighbour of Sergeant Ough so he started his service in Ugborough Patrol. He is remembered as being in the Patrol by Alec Rogers. Arthur's address on the Nominal roll is recorded as Lukesland Cottage. As the nominal roll is thought to have been complied mid 1942 and the date of him joining Auxiliary Units is July 1942 he could have moved to the Harford Patrol.
He married Lillian R Gegory in 1936.
