The son of Willie and Elizabeth he married Betty Emily England of Corvyle, Butleigh 8th November 1941, 3 days before joining Auxiliary Units. He transferred to 10th Somerset Battalion Home Guard 17th August 1943. He was staying at The Torbay Hotel in Torquay in December 1944 when he was found drowned in the harbour one night.
