During this time he wrote The 1938 Calendar.
He lectured on explosives on the Patrol Leaders Courses at Coleshill.
He is mentioned in Beatrice Temple's Diary on 26 Aug 1942 and 26 Sep 1943. The latter was for a sherry party at Captain Philip Tallents home, thought to have been Redlands Court in Highworth. It seems he main have been involved somehow in the events that saw some of the outbuildings blown up. The earlier date in the diary does say "Blown up by Capt Tallents" - so this reference may have been literal!

Tallents was the youngest son of Reverend Ernest F. Tallents of Bossall Vicarage, Yorkshire (1939). While at Lancing College he was Prefect and Head of House and was on the tennis, swimming and athletics teams.
He married Loloma Margaret Pictor at Bath Abbey in November 1939.
Post war he was director of specialist engineering firm Impregnated Diamond Products Ltd. He was also a committee member of Gloucestershire Association of Boys Clubs and the family settled in Lansdown Road, Cheltenham.
