In 1939 he is a Cadet at Felstead School. 19th March 1943 he was discharged to Royal Artillery. On 1st April 1944 to Army Air Corps. He went to SAS and took part and survived Operation Bulbasket. Originally in Eaton Patrol he later moved to Earlham Patrol
