GPO Telephonist
He joined the Black Watch during the war.
A newspaper report recorded that he spent most of his war service with the HQ staff of Auxiliary Units, Home Forces in Wiltshire, doubtless at Coleshill House. The article also mention a link to the Special Air Service, suggesting he was present in early 1944 when many of the regular personnel were recruited into this regiment.
