Charles Scragg has contacted us to say he feels that Captain Cooper of Small Dole was known as George. He thinks his initials were A.G. with George as his second name. George lived at Small Dole after the war. Charles also remembers his father, of the Wiston Patrol, speaking of driving with George, with a break for refreshment at the George and Dragon at Houghton, to Stansted with a load of high explosives. This was after the Patrols had been stood down and the gamekeeper there was responsible for collecting the unused explosives.
