The son of William and Lavina, Albert was born in Kidlington, Oxford. He married Esther Collins in 1934.
A WW1 veteran he served as Private number 9813, enlisting 25 Aug 1916 in Worcestershire Regiment. He was discharged 22 June 1918. He had been gassed and buried alive for 3 days in the Dardenelles, and the ship carrying him home was torpedoed. He was, for a while in St Dunstans Hospital in London as he was temporarily blinded.
Albert was gamekeeper on Rothschild estate, Tring before moving to Hothfield, as Headkeeper for Rootes family on Hothfield estate. He was there for 34 years. He trained gundogs and was part owner of Champion Gundog at Crufts a Springer Spaniel, "Woodbay Doverlodge Dazzler". He was also responsible for introducing Jack Russell terriers to Kentwith. He died at The Gardens, Hothfield.
