Other information
In 1976, three hand guns were found by Corfe Mullen youth club in a well in the animal pound on Pardys Hill. There was a wooden false bottom to the well and the guns were found six and half feet down. The were two Smith and Wesson revolvers and a Luger, all in leather holsters and in apparently working condition. The location was close to Arthur Best’s home. The find may be entirely unrelated to Auxiliary Units, but the men were mostly First World War veterans which might explain an acquired Luger and Smith and Wesson revolvers were issued to Patrols in leather holsters.
