In 1939 he was an ARP Warden. Pitts was involved with both sides of Auxiliary Units as a Operational Patrol Leader and also as a Special Duties Operative.
Pitts married Miss Ina Annette MacKenzie Hills in September 1932 where he is described as coming from the oldest established and best known family in the district.
