A WW1 veteran he served as Private 46365 in the 3rd Reserve Battalion Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry from 29 June 1918 and was recorded as 5 foot 5 inches with light brown hair and blue eyes. In Sept 1918 he spent 19 days in Dover Hospital with Influenza.
