Cliff Raymont and Bob Hillyer were brothers-in-law.
Having originally joined the Ilchester Home Guard (or LDV as it was) Cliff was approached by Eric Loder to join the Patrol. Cliff informed his Sergeant he was leaving to join the Auxiliary Units but on questioning he had to admit he didn't really know what they were !
He left before the nominal roll was complied and joined the RAF, after training he became a Sergeant and radio operator in Bomber Command by November 1942.
