              All Group Commanders originally signed up as Lieutenants in “H” Company of the 10th (Torbay) Battalion Home Guard before being recruited to Auxiliary Units.
Edward was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant 1st December 1941. He is promoted again to Lieutenant and recorded as such in the Nominal Roll.
Born in Oakhampton he married Margy A E Gilpin in 1920 in Newton Abbot district and they had two children. A WW1 veteran he served as Private 11518 from 24 Feb 1917 and was recorded as 5 foot 10 inches.
