Born Elsie Laura Olley, she was wife of Kenneth Maryan Green. Ken wrote to his wife Elsie, known to all as Laura in June 1940 – she had moved away from Hockley to Hampshire, a safer area, with her two sons but was not happy and was pressing to come home. This must have happened as she became an Out Station radio operator at their home ‘Egremont’, a bungalow on Southend Road.
Her code name was ‘Sugar’ according to her daughter. Charles Frederick Olley was her uncle.
