Patrol leader of Oare Patrol and Assistant Group Commander of Group 1. Lieutenant from 17th May 1941. Mr Foster was also a Captain in the 9th Battalion C Company Kent Home Guard from July 1940. In 1939 he was a Special Constable.

His son, John Foster, handed in arms, ammunition and explosives during the 1966 amnesty.  As a boy John Foster remembered Fleming and Calvert. He remembered his father coming and going and disappearing whenever there was a heavy bombing raid. He never knew if there was an OB.

Foster was a WW1 veteran having enlisted in the RAF 8 July 1918. He is recorded as being 5 foot 9 inches with brown hair, light blue eyes and a fresh complexion.
