Grasby Patrol | Patrol member | Unknown | 03 Dec 1944 |
The nominal roll for Lincolnshire lists H Foster as a member of the Grasby Patrol, with no other details. Correspondence indicates that the Regional Territorial Army Headquarter held the registration form of Fred Charles Foster, as a member of Auxiliary Units, confirming his ID card number as well. It is possible that it was an error in the roll, but Fred Foster’s brother, Henry Hudson Foster, 1925-2008, lived at Mill Farm with their father William Henry Foster, during the war. Henry could also have been a member of the Patrol.
The family sold the farm after the war and Henry moved to Woodhall Spa with his father. He became a wildlife scientist with the Ministry of Agriculture and a frequent newspaper correspondent on wildlife and hunting matters.
