Secretarial work
She was interviewed by Beatrice Temple 17 June 1943. Beatrice Temple records she was informed by Olga that Heather had a heart attack 18 Nov 1943. These dates would place her at Reigate.
Thanks to her family who showed us her hand written note inside "The Last Ditch" by David Lampe it appears she also served in Ormskirk, Lincolnshire.
After the war she stayed in contact with the Henniker family who owned the Thornham Magna estate in Suffolk, so she may well have spent time there as an operator. Her photo shows she was promoted to subaltern. She remained in the ATS until 29 Sept 1944.
In 1949 she travelled to the then Celyon now Sri Lanka.
She returned to the Army, initially in the ranks, before being recommissioned into the Women’s Royal Army Corps in the early 1950s.
In 1939 she is helping with ARP casualty services.
