A WW1 veteran he was Pte 1710 Norfolk Yeomanry then Lance Corporal 320134 12th Norfolk Regiment. He was awarded the Military Medal. His grandson had no knowledge of Harry's Auxiliary Unit role but at one time did find 150 rounds of .303 caliber ammunition.
