He was originally from Tottenham and stayed in Arundel with Mr and Mrs March in one of the three storey houses on the high pavement side of Maltravers Street. That was very close to the air raid siren along the road atop the Town Hall. He preferred to stay and watch the action from his top floor room, then go back to sleep rather than hide in the shelter when it went off.
