Noted to be Second Lieutenant and joined Radio Society of Great Britain in December 1941, possibly as joins Auxiliary Units.

1 Oct 1942, promoted War Substantive Lieutenant.

Sept 1944, leaves Auxiliary Units. Beatrice Temple last mentions him in her dairy in January 1944.

6 Sept 1948, Emergency Commission converted to Territorial Army Commission with Substantive rank of Captain.

1 May 1961, Transferred from Army Emergency Reserve to Territorial Army Reserve of Officers and re-granted Honorary Rank of Major.

Stan Judson recalled working with him at Edinburgh when he arrived to set up the wireless network. He described him as thinking "that he was Rommel, to the extent of shaping his cap and carrying a switch. He turned up one day when on leave carrying a sword stick".
