Career

Frank Hunt was described as an enthusiastic member of the Patrol and memorable for always wearing his pistol in a thigh holster strapped to his leg.

He was called up to the Army and was surprised to find himself posted to the Royal Army Medical Corps. He served in North west Europe with 11 Light Field Ambulance, attached to 6th Guards Armoured Division. This meant they had a hard time accompanying a front line tank unit in softskin vehicles. They were the first full medical unit to enter Belsen-Bergen concentration camp in April 1945. This experience stayed with Frank for the rest of his life.

Other information

Frank does not appear in the nominal roll for Essex, presumably because he left Auxiliary Units before it was compiled.
