John Bremner helped build Thrumster Hall in 1923. He was known to local children for playing Santa Claus at Christmas time.

Career
Bremner joined the regular Home Guard in 1940, meeting at Thrumster Hall. He was subsequently recruited to Auxiliary Units. He never spoke about his training or activities. The only proof of his membership was the two Stand Down letters he kept.
