Born in Hackney to Frederick and Emma, he married Alice Smith in Kentish Town, London 14 Aug 1920. His father Frederick was recorded as a Gentleman. John is recorded as an inventor. He died in Birmingham.

Reenlisted 4th Battalion Essex Regiment, Number 3462. Served for 307 days – 1 Dec 1915 to 2 Oct 1916. He did not serve overseas.

Discharged – sickness - no longer physically fit for war service. Awarded WW1 Silver badge (number 18,924).

27 May 1940 Enrolled Local Defence Volunteers, accepted 12 June 1940 Dunster Company.

28 Sept 1940 Dunster Section Commander, Home Guard.

16 Oct 1940 Member of Aux Units. 

1 Feb 1941 Promoted to Lieutenant later crossed out.

1 Oct 1943 Transferred to 4th Battalion (Sherborne) Dorset Home Guard. Reverts to Private.

31 Dec 945 Discharged on the stand down of the Home Guard.
