Born in Essex to Edwin and Edith Beatrice Hough. She was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Janet Trevaskis to Gavin Purves-Smith in Sussex, 1937. Beatrice Temple knew the Trevaskis family well.

She married Major Anthony Salmon Aldridge in July 1946. Aldridge was a member of the Colonial Service and they intended to make their home in Cyprus. Eve (nee Trevaskis) was her bridesmaid and she became Godmother to Eve's son. Electoral rolls of the 1950s record her alone at Jordan's Cottage, Rusper although by the 1960s the couple are at Southwater, Sussex.
