Born in Aylesham, Norfolk to Major Frank Hornsby, Royal Field Artillery and his wife the Honourable Muriel Hornsby, the sister of Lord Belper. Her mother had also been in the ATS. She married Major Edward Charles Mann D.S.O, M.M in Oct 1945.
