May have joined after his brother Harry Darling was discharged due to ill health. Robert is not recorded on the nominal roll but his late brother Harry is still recorded at stand down. It may be that the wrong brother is recorded at stand down.
The sons of Thomas and Annie (nee Bradley), Francis, Robert and Henry were all brothers, Home Farm was the family farm.
Robert was the driver in a fatal road traffic accident in Oct 1941. The verdict was accidental death of a pedestrian.
