Left and joined HM Forces 3rd June 1943. He joined Royal Engineers 13 Field Survey Company as Sapper 14622691. He died from Polio in 65th British General Hospital, Italy, 6 months after the end of hostilities. He is buried at Castera War Cemetery, Italy.

He was awarded 1939 – 45 Star, 1939 – 45 War medal and Italy Star.
