Other information

Stan Hayward: “I was already a member of the Lenham Home Guard based at the White Horse pub, Sandway, and worked on one of Alfred Chester-Beatty’s farms, Leacon Farm. His father was an American and Chester-Beatty  was a multi-millionaire and owned the Selection Trust Corporation. I married in 1943 and moved to a tied cottage in Hothfield. It was while here that I was invited to join the Patrol by Jim Brown. My young wife, Joan Wright, from Folkestone, was a Land Army girl. Her family owned a sweet shop near the Black Bull Pub.
