Biography
In 1935 he married Margaret Elinor “Molly” Butler, son of Bernard Butler. On 1 June 1938 their son was born
He was a director of the family Hartridge & Sons Brewery at Hambledon. In 1940 the brewery was bombed and they ceased making alcoholic drinks, concentrating on soft drinks thereafter. The company remains in business to this day.

Career
His membership of the Patrol is known from a photograph taken in the winter of 1940 where he appears with other members. His name does not appear on the nominal roll at all. This may suggest he left Auxiliary Units prior to the middle of 1942.
He joined the RAF in 1943, after his reserved occupation status was lifted.
