Biography
Born at Burgh near Aylsham, he moved with his family to live at the Nelson public house in North Walsham as a child. Leaving school he worked as a builder, then a thatcher before joining his brothers at Hannant’s Garage in North Walsham in 1931. He specialised in accident repair work. Wally worked there until retirement in 1970, having risen to be Managing Director of the business.
In 1936 he married Ethel Gaze and they had a son, David.
