The sons of Henry and Bessie, he was known as Jack and was the younger brother of Auxilier Charlie Denslow. He married Jessie Brunfield in 1937.

He became the Corporal of the Bovey Patrol 19th January 1942 and was awarded the Defence Medal after stand down. He was the explosive expert in the Patrol as he wasn't nervous of using it.

All of the Auxiliers in Bovey Patrol worked on the Bovey Estate.

In later life he wrote his memories of his time in Auxiliary Units. He was also interviewed by the history department of Colyton Grammar School.
