He served as a Special Police officer during the war, and had to go to Taunton Police station regularly.
He lived at Ash Cross garage, the house was were the modern day patrol station kiosk is sited, and he was a blacksmith, mechanic, and had a smallholding, and he did ploughing around the area.
He did not serve in WW1 as he was a farmer near Creech St Michael.
