The son of Bertram Cecil and Annie, he married Freda Mary Weeks 1 Aug 1938. They had two young children when he died.

His service record shows he was 5 foot 7 1/2 inches with blonde hair and blue eyes.

1 July 1943 Transferred to No 15 Infantry Training Centre, Somerset Light Infantry, from 26 Primary Training Centre.

10 Feb 1944 Transferred to 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. 

22 Feb 1944 Wounded in action in Italy.

25 Dec 1944 Missing as a Lance Corporal.

25 Dec 1944 Killed in Action.

He was qualified as a driver and was awarded the 1939 - 45 Star, Italy Star, 1939 - 45 War medal.
