Other information

Long is not recorded on the nominal roll. His name only appears on the 1945 Reunion menu. He may have attended in his capacity of Deputy Lieutenant of the county of Southampton rather than an Auxilier.

During WW2 Albert set up his house as the headquarters for army welfare work on the island and his wife was actively involved in helping soldiers with domestic problems. It is most likely that Albert would have been very interested in what his son Peter was doing during WW2 but it is possible that Peter may have kept from his father his actual role due to being sworn to secrecy by the Official Secrets Act.
