Sergeant Freddie Chapman (F Roots via M Marciano)
Biography
Known as Freddie, after the war he ran the Red Lion Hotel, Wells Market Place and Swan Hotel, Sadler Street in Wells. He amassed a huge collection of vintage carriages, motorcycles and bicycles which he auctioned in 1975. By joining together with other hoteliers he became a founding member of Best Western Hotels Ltd.
