George Pellett has been a fruit and vegetable farmer and horse trainer for most of his life his boss during the war was Sergeant Mount: “I was working at Little Barton Farm and as a squad leader in the local Home Guard defending the viaduct at Bekesbourne Station. One night I arrested two Army officers who had refused to show me their ID and locked them in a hut. They were mad. Eventually, some officers from RAF Manston took them away. A couple of days later two Army officers knocked on my door and asked me to walk down the garden path with them. I thought I was in for a rocket after arresting and locking up the two other officers. They asked if I wanted to join the Auxiliary Units."
