He married Audrey Florence A Everett at the start of 1943, just before the Scout Sections were being reduced. The couple had become engaged in Sep 1942. The wedding notice said that the officers and men of his regiment had presented the couple with a cheque. Presumably this was the other members of the Scout Section. The bridesmaids were the sisters of the couple.
He married again to Olive C Rumbold in 1959.

Dennis Slark served pre-war with the Territorial Battalion of the Wiltshire Regiment being embodied in 1939.
He joined the Wiltshire Regiment Scout Section, most likely in November 1940. The unit photo shows he has the SP “Special Proficiency” badge and a long service and good conduct badge on his left sleeve in the photo.
He joined the SAS in February 1944 having been recruited alongside of most of his Scout Section, completing a parachute course shortly afterwards. He was part of 1 SAS. He does not appear to have served on any active operations, but was sent to Norway with 1 SAS after the war to help disarm German forces there.
He returned to the Wiltshire Regiment as the SAS was being disbanded in November 1945. After the war he served in Germany as a corporal and later in Hong Kong where he was promoted to sergeant. In 24 July 1956 he was among the men presented to the Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel-in-Chief of the Wiltshire Regiment, when he flew into Le Marchant Barracks in Devizes for an inspection. He left the army in 1959.
