Biography

The son of Reginald and Helena in 1939 he is helping his father on the farm. Dennis married Shelia Loxton in 1946. Dennis was a founding member of Dinder and Croscombe Cricket Club.

On 15 Dec 1945 the Wells Group of Somerset Auxiliers had a stand down meal at the Bekynton Cafe in Wells. The men are listed in their Patrols. Dyke does not have a star next to his name which denotes he was not in Auxiliary Units from its formation.

Recruited by Sidney Down and Percy Hull, Dennis was not a member of the Home Guard. In 2001 he still had his stand down lapel badge. He only went once to train at Colsehill House but remembers training with the Scout Section at Cranmore.
