The sons of Samuel and Sarah, Harsent and Kenneth were brothers. He married Daisy Page in 1933.

Jack worked on E G Godbody family farm Willow Farm, from leaving school until retirement, as did his father before him. He was awarded a long service medal at the Suffolk Show in 1973.
He was a great lover of horses. On his death the hearse was pulled by Bobby, the last horse he had ridden. Jack had been a member of the church choir and regularly sang.
