Left Auxiliary Units 6th May 1943 to serve with Royal Army Service Corps until 1946.
He recalled: “I knew Fred Elvy very well and he invited me to join. The Cuthbert family was well respected in the area. We were very practical and could turn our hands to most things. I was with the Auxiliary Units from 1940 – 43. At one point I was called up and spent five days in the regular army and then released. From 1943 – 46 I served with the Royal Army Service Corps".
