Biography

He was the son of Donald Gunn and Elizabeth (nee Murray), born in Latheron. He married Margaret Keith Sutherland at Latheron on 26 June 1926. She was the youngest daughter of William Sutherland of The Shore, Dunbeath.

A May 1943 newspaper article mentioned that he was taking a holding at Newport on the coast, where he would live for the rest of his life. Two of his sons, Billy and Jim, collected a large amount of scrap metal as well as collecting £16 12s 9d for the Red Cross, an impressive effort from such a small community.
